This sword commemorates this journey and the high adventure which it entailed.
The Argo sword takes its name from the study ship which carried Jason and his men on their heroic quest. Translated, Argo means "the long vessel". Many historians believe, as they read through the ancient writings, that this ship was between 22 to 25 meters in length and supported a fifty-man crew. She was built near Pelion Mount and set sail possibly from Pagassas.
Researching through various historical documents, the makers designed the Argo directly from the Greek swords of this time period. Its leaf-shaped blade and short imposing stature, was a standard design used by the majority of Greek armorers. Many of the perils and rewards which Jason and his crew encountered have been beautifully captured on this striking sword. The cross guard is a branch of a tree, on which hangs the ultimate prize, the skull and hide of the Golden Fleece.
The pommel is the trident of Triton, Lord of the Deep. It was he who allowed Jason's ship to safely traverse the deadly clashing cliffs. This kingly blade would have most likely been presented to Jason upon his triumphant return. Now this sword can be yours to possess through time memoriam.
